Genetically Modified Food

By Erin Valentine

In a few weeks, the government will be voting on labeling genetically modified food,I-522. Food bloggers everywhere are being encouraged to participate in a Blogger Carnival to discuss why labeling GMOs would be important. Labeling GMOs will allow people to better choose what goes on their plates.

Washington is going to be one of the first states to vote on I-522. One of the biggest issues is that people are feeling like the testers for foods that could be potentially harmful for them. California last year, and the I-522 lost by 6%. A large part of the loss was GMO food companies funding misleading ads.

There is also the argument, however, that GMOs could provide a possible solution for population growth. This ongoing discussion could really change the way Americans see and eat food.
